A teacher in Skellefteå municipality has been convicted of sexual molestation against a 12-year-old pupil. The district court issued the ruling on 22 May 2026.
The incident occurred in February 2024 at a primary school in Skellefteå municipality. The pupil stated that the teacher grabbed her on the buttocks and later the same day reported it to the school nurse.
The teacher claimed he had collided with the pupil in a corridor and grabbed her to prevent a fall. The district court rejected the explanation as an after-the-fact construction and sentenced the man to a conditional sentence plus 15 000 kronor in damages.
He was acquitted of a second charge involving another pupil. The man continued working at the school after the report but resigned in April 2026. School chief Henrik Bolin said the decision to retain him was made to avoid prejudging the legal process.
