Tesla to announce Colombia entry at Corferias auto show

US company Tesla plans to officially announce its entry into the Colombian market at the Corferias International Auto Show, from November 14 to 23. The local subsidiary, Tesla Motors Colombia S.A.S., registered in 2024 with the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce. Until now, brand vehicle purchases have been made via personal imports since 2019.

Tesla, the US technology company led by Elon Musk that designs, manufactures, and sells electric cars, will officially announce its arrival in Colombia at the International Auto Show, as confirmed by Corferias to La República. The event will take place from November 14 to 23 at Corferias in Bogotá.

The subsidiary's commercial registration is Tesla Motors Colombia S.A.S., filed in 2024 with the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce. Its economic activities include the trade of new motor vehicles, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, commercialization of electrical energy, and manufacturing of electrical distribution and control apparatus. The parent company is Tesla International B.V., based in the Netherlands, which oversees operations in markets like Spain and Chile, where it opened its first store two weeks ago.

Since 2019, Tesla purchases in Colombia have been handled as personal imports, but direct purchases with the brand have been possible since 2024. Recently, Tesla reported record revenues in the third quarter of 2025, totaling US$28.100 million, exceeding analyst estimates of US$26.370 million. Earnings per share were US$0.50, with an 18% gross margin, driven by record quarterly electric vehicle sales.

This formal entry solidifies Tesla's presence in Colombia's growing electric vehicle market, where new registrations rose 170% from January to September 2025, according to Andi and Fenalco data.
