Two film producers booked for harassing woman member of T.N. producers’ council

Two film producers in Chennai have been booked by police after a woman producer alleged harassment and public humiliation over inquiries into the Tamil Film Producers Council accounts.

The All Women Police Station in Thousand Lights registered the case following complaints from the 54-year-old victim. She had raised concerns that the council’s annual reports for 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 were not presented to the general body.

After complaining to the District Registrar, the victim was suspended for three months. She later obtained relief from the Chennai Civil Court, but the accused producers allegedly demanded a public apology for reinstatement.

At a council election meeting in November 2025, the two producers reportedly forced her to apologise publicly, verbally abused her, threatened her against contesting elections and circulated derogatory messages on WhatsApp groups.
