On February 28, 2018, in Addis Ababa, Ato Tilahun Kebde, head of the Debub Ethiopia Regional Administration, spoke at the inauguration of a model second-cycle primary school in Omorate town, Omo Zone. He emphasized that upgrading the levels of primary schools is crucial to prevent job losses in the education sector.

During his speech, Tilahun stated that second-cycle primary schools are being constructed by enhancing their standards. To provide equal educational opportunities to all Ethiopians across regions, over 34,000 preschool centers have been established in the past five years. Education serves as the foundation of development, making it essential to deliver quality and accessible learning to children. An Amharic model second-cycle primary school in Keley town, Kore Zone, is set to be inaugurated in the coming days.
