A man in his twenties has died after being injured with a sharp object during a fight in central Kristianstad on Saturday evening. Police are investigating the case as suspected murder, and the hospital emergency room went into lockdown following disturbances.
Police were alerted to Östra Storgatan at 18.18 after a man in his twenties was injured in a fight. Relatives took the man to the emergency room at Centralsjukhuset Kristianstad before officers arrived. The man later died from his injuries, though it remains unclear whether it happened en route or at the hospital.
Chaos broke out at the emergency room when relatives became aggressive. The hospital then locked down the ER to unauthorized persons while police and security guards were called in to restore order. The situation calmed quickly after police arrived around 19.00.
Police have launched an intensive investigation and are interviewing witnesses both at the hospital and in the city centre. They are also reviewing surveillance footage. No suspect has been arrested and relatives have been notified of the death.
