The next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4.” The rumor originated from leaker HeyImAlaix, who claimed over the weekend that Modern Warfare 4 was being playtested on PS4. Activision shot down the speculation decisively, marking the franchise's departure from PS4 and Xbox One after 12 years of support since their launch era. The series began appearing on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S six years ago, making this the longest overlap between console generations for the annualized shooter. This shift leaves millions of PS4 players behind, as those consoles will no longer receive the latest multiplayer modes without upgrading. Current-generation consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X/S have risen in price by over $100 since launch, while PC hardware faces RAM and GPU shortages.
