Luis Augusto Queiroz Miguel, the first Brazilian to win the Roland Garros junior title, will miss the Citi DC Open after his passport was stolen in Milan. The theft forced him to restart the visa process with no time left before the tournament.
The 17-year-old was scheduled to receive a qualifying wildcard for the ATP 500 event in Washington. Among the stolen items were his passport, documents and cards, which delayed his travel plans.
The Washington Open instead awarded the spots to Wimbledon boys’ runner-up Cruz Hewitt and 16-year-old American Jordan Lee. Queiroz had already competed in the Miami Masters 1000 qualifying draw earlier this year.
A similar theft affected Maria Timofeeva in Paris earlier in 2026, when the Uzbek player lost her passport and phone shortly after a French Open qualifying defeat.
Queiroz has no confirmed tournaments scheduled at present and it remains unclear whether he can resolve the visa matter before the US Open Juniors.
