Carabineros detains 128 people in national nighttime operation

Carabineros carried out a nationwide nighttime operation resulting in 128 detentions. The institution deployed 1,300 additional officers and conducted over 11,500 preventive controls.

The operation focused on alcohol-related checks and crime prevention at strategic points across the country. General Alex Bahamóndez, head of the Metropolitan Zone, stated that it was “a ronda de impacto de alcoholes y prevención de delitos”.

More than 70% of the detentions involved crimes caught in the act, including surprise thefts and robberies with intimidation. Nearly 900 infractions were issued, over 600 targeting alcohol-selling premises.

In the Metropolitan Region, actions included controls in the San Pablo sector of Lo Prado. Carabineros seized drugs and white weapons, and identified cases of alcohol sales to minors.
