Two suspects in preventive detention for posing as police in Alto Hospicio minimarket robbery

Tarapacá prosecutors reported that two suspects were placed in preventive detention after posing as police to rob a minimarket in Alto Hospicio. The robbery took place on April 9, leading to their arrest two days later. The court set a 60-day investigation period.

Two men identified as F.I.S.R. and J.S.L.V. were charged with robbery with violence and intimidation, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of a cutting weapon after posing as PDI officers to raid a minimarket in Alto Hospicio.

The incident happened on the morning of April 9 around 10:30 a.m. at a store on Avenida Valparaíso. The suspects intimidated victims with threats and fake firearms, stealing cell phones, a notebook, cigarette packs, and about one million pesos from the cash register. They fled in a vehicle tracked via security cameras.

Investigators traced them to their homes, and on April 11 they were arrested while trying to sell the stolen cigarettes at another local minimarket. Raids recovered tactical gear including a plate carrier vest, cap, leg guards, an adaptable blank-firing gun, and air guns.

Substitute prosecutor Karla Miranda requested preventive detention due to the offense's severity and risk to public safety. The Tarapacá court approved it for 60 days.
