Commodore unveils Callback 8020 flip phone for digital detox

Commodore International Corporation has announced the Callback 8020, a flip phone designed to limit distractions by blocking social media apps and browsers while supporting many other Android applications.

The device features a retro design with a T9 keypad and runs Sailfish OS. It blocks social media, email, browsers and AI features through patent-pending technology. Users can still access maps, music, rideshare and messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Signal.

Specs include a 48-megapixel camera, MediaTek Helio G81 processor and a replaceable 1550 mAh battery. The phone offers LED notification lights on the exterior and supports expandable storage.

Pre-orders open June 30 at a starting price of $500, with shipping expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Commodore CEO Peri Fractic said the phone was created to help users escape doomscrolling while staying connected for essential tasks.
