Commodore unveils flip phone running Sailfish OS

Commodore has announced the Callback 8020, a retro-style flip phone that runs Jolla's Sailfish OS instead of Android. The device supports most Android apps while emphasizing privacy features.

The polycarbonate flip phone features a 3.25-inch inner display and a 1.77-inch outer screen. It includes a MediaTek Helio G81 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 48MP rear camera.

Sailfish OS blocks browsers and most social media apps by default. It comes with WhatsApp preinstalled and supports Signal, Telegram, and WeChat, plus iMessage via a third-party bridge.

Pricing starts at $499 for standard colors, with higher tiers up to $640. Pre-orders open June 30 with an extra discount for waitlist signups, and units are set to ship this winter.
