Developers behind the Flipper One are seeking help to build a pocket-sized Linux cyberdeck with advanced networking features. The device remains in early stages and is not yet released.
The Flipper One is planned as a compact device running the mainline Linux kernel without proprietary software components. It targets uses in development, experimentation and network testing.
Planned connectivity includes a 5G modem, Wi-Fi 6E, two Gigabit Ethernet ports and up to 5 Gbps wired USB-C Ethernet. Hardware specifications list a Rockchip RK3576 main processor, 8 GB RAM, 64 GB storage and a 7000 mAh battery.
A custom interface called FlipperCTL is intended to simplify command-line tools on the small 256x144 pixel display. The project also features a secondary Raspberry Pi RP2350B microcontroller for low-power operation.
A public developer portal has been opened to accept contributions in hardware design, mechanics, Linux firmware, user interface work, documentation and testing. The team emphasizes full openness in both hardware and software.
