Deputy seeks clarification on new Desenrola Brasil program

Deputy Adriana Ventura submitted a request to the finance minister seeking details on the recently launched Desenrola Brasil 2.0. The lawmaker questions the outcomes of the original 2023 version.

Federal Deputy Adriana Ventura (Novo-SP) filed an information request with Finance Minister Dario Durigan. She seeks data on the number of beneficiaries, the volume of renegotiated debts and the program's impact on default rates.

The first edition of Desenrola, from 2023, renegotiated R$ 53.2 billion, according to the request. However, the stock of defaults rose again after it ended, with Central Bank data showing R$ 1.15 in new defaults for each real renegotiated.

The new version draws on up to R$ 23.2 billion from funds such as FGTS and FGO. The program was launched amid high household debt levels across the country.

Ventura called the measure populist and questioned the use of workers' resources to assist defaulters.
