Emissions fell in seven of nine industries during 2025

Greenhouse gas emissions from the Swedish economy fell by 1.8 percent in 2025 compared with the previous year, according to preliminary figures from SCB.

The largest reduction occurred in the construction sector where emissions dropped 5.4 percent, or 117 kilotons of carbon dioxide equivalents. Statistics Sweden figures cover production emissions to air from companies and households both inside and outside the country's borders. Emissions fell in seven of nine industries. In mineral extraction they rose 6.6 percent and in agriculture, forestry and fishing they increased 1.6 percent. SCB presents the numbers as preliminary and they refer to the year 2025.
