Ethiopia advances priority initiatives in Africa-India partnership

Following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Ethiopia, Minister of Women and Social Affairs Dr. Ergoge Tesfaye announced on February 2, 2018, in Addis Ababa, that the country is prioritizing initiatives to strengthen Africa-India ties, building on a joint study by the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) and the Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP).

Minister Dr. Ergoge Tesfaye's announcement builds on discussions during Modi's meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, which aimed to deepen bilateral and continental partnerships.

She highlighted opportunities identified in the study to expand financing, investment, and cooperation, advancing South-South ties and Agenda 2063. Indian Ambassador to Ethiopia Anil Kumar Rai and an African Union representative pledged to implement the study's recommendations, praising India's role in development and capacity building.
