Eva Orúe dismissed as director of Madrid Book Fair

Journalist Eva Orúe was dismissed on Monday as director of the Madrid Book Fair. The Madrid Booksellers Association communicated the removal unilaterally. Orúe had held the position for the last five editions.

The decision was made on Monday morning. Orúe stated that she does not share the reasons given but acknowledges the association's authority to terminate the contract.

Association president Luis M. Tigeras said they are already working on a new stage. He highlighted advances achieved in sustainability and cultural programming during Orúe's tenure.

Pablo Bonet will serve as interim director until a new leader is selected. The association plans to meet with booksellers to define the fair's future.
