Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy 14 will arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 on 4 August. The port includes the popular free trial and requires 117.2 GB of storage.
The announcement came during the Fan Festival 2026 in Berlin. A five-minute extended teaser trailer introduced the next story arc, called the Godless Realms Saga, along with a new tank class named the Bastion that uses a pair of greatshields called skyltborg.
Pre-orders for the Switch 2 edition opened after the event. Players will need a separate monthly subscription from other versions of the game, though those already paying two subscriptions receive a 50 percent discount on the Switch 2 sub. No Nintendo Switch Online membership is required.
Additional reveals included an Evangelion Ghosts of Desire collaboration, a new data centre system for better connectivity, and a planned crossover with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. The Evercold expansion remains scheduled for early 2027.
