The venue that housed Folk å Rock on Lilla Torg in Malmö has been resold to the owners behind Kol & Cocktails. The initial buyers, who planned a Swedish brasserie, have chosen to sell to the new bar operator. This marks an unexpected turn for the popular spot.
The venue on Lilla Torg, previously home to Folk å Rock, has changed hands again. It was first bought by the owners behind Paddy’s to be transformed into Brasseri 1851. Now they are reselling it to the owners of Kol & Cocktails, another major bar operator in the city.
Kenneth Ovesson, known as the Folk å Rock legend, revealed in Sydsvenskan in February 2024 that he would close the pub on Lilla Torg due to the sale to Paddy’s owners. The plan at that time was for a Swedish brasserie in the premises.
Michael Fogelqvist, one of the new owners, comments on the deal: “If you get the chance to take a venue on Lilla Torg, you're foolish not to do it.” This highlights the appeal of the central location in Malmö.
