A 45-year-old man is accused of killing his former girlfriend inside a Gainesville convenience store after shooting her in her car and chasing her inside.
Antwane Sintell Thurmond faces charges of malice murder, felony murder and domestic violence aggravated assault in the death of 44-year-old Tia Vidon Keith. Authorities say the shooting occurred just after 9:30 p.m. on July 16 at Subhanallah Food Mart.
Deputies reported that Thurmond was waiting in Keith's car when she returned from shopping. He allegedly shot her multiple times inside the vehicle. Keith ran back into the store for help, but Thurmond followed and fired additional shots as she fell near the bathroom.
Thurmond fled the scene and remains at large. Deputies have recovered his car and searched a home in the Atlanta area. He is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, about 212 pounds, with a neck tattoo that reads "Romans 12:19" and a prosthetic lower left leg.
Keith worked as a hairstylist and owned her own salon. Her cousin told local news that she was remembered for her kind nature and sense of humor.
