Jakarta customs seals 29 yachts over alleged customs violations

Jakarta's Directorate General of Customs and Excise sealed 29 foreign-flagged yachts suspected of breaching customs and tax rules. The action came during a high-value goods patrol inspecting 112 yachts. Agus D.P., head of enforcement and investigation, cited expired entry permits and unreported rental income as violations.

Jakarta Customs and Excise regional office conducted a high-value goods (HVG) patrol, inspecting 112 yachts, including 57 foreign-flagged ones and 55 others. Of these, 29 foreign-flagged tourist yachts were sealed over suspected violations.

Agus D.P., Head of Enforcement and Investigation (P2), stated the yachts remained in Indonesian waters despite expired vessel declarations (VD). They were rented out beyond owners' use, with income unreported for tax. "Terhadap penghasilan yang diperoleh tentunya tidak dilaporkan pajak penghasilannya," Agus said in Jakarta on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Further issues included sales to Indonesian citizens without import duties fulfilled. Non-violating yachts were spared. Agus affirmed ongoing HVG patrols to maximize state revenue and ensure fiscal fairness.

The operation aligns with the President's directive to the Finance Minister to safeguard national wealth via law enforcement. State losses remain unquantified, as calculations with the Directorate General of Taxes proceed cautiously.
