Jakarta police urge no convoys on takbiran night

Jakarta's traffic directorate has urged residents to avoid convoys on takbiran night and instead visit local mosques. Joint personnel will be deployed to secure the Jakarta Bedug Kolosal Malam Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah event on Sudirman-MH Thamrin road.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol. Komarudin urged the public not to hold convoys on takbiran night. “(Residents) can enliven mosques in their local areas. So, we hope there will be no convoy activities,” he said in Jakarta on Friday (20/3/2026). He stated that joint personnel from Polri, TNI, and related agencies will be deployed for takbiran night security. Specifically on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman-MH Thamrin in Central Jakarta, at least 557 personnel will be stationed. This is to secure the “Jakarta Bedug Kolosal Malam Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah” event starting at 20.00 WIB until completion. The event includes Pawai Obor Malam Takbiran with a route from Pintu Barat Daya Silang Monas-Bundaran HI-Jalan MH Thamrin-Bundaran HI. During the event, Car Free Night will be implemented along Jalan Jenderal Sudirman-MH Thamrin from 20.00 to 22.00 WIB. Traffic engineering will also address public enthusiasm.
