The Kenya National Highways Authority announced on March 25 that traffic flow has been fully restored at Globe Roundabout along Thika Superhighway (A2), a vital route into Nairobi’s Central Business District. “The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify motorists and the public that traffic flow at Globe Roundabout along Thika Superhighway (A2) has been restored,” KeNHA stated in the notice. “Motorists can now resume normal travel along this section.” The roundabout had been closed since March 12 for reinstatement works on the Nairobi River Bridge, causing severe congestion on Thika Superhighway, Kipande Road, and surrounding routes. Commuters faced longer travel times, route changes by public transport operators, frustration, delays, and higher fares. Businesses in and around the city centre suffered from disrupted goods movement. KeNHA advised drivers to proceed cautiously and follow instructions from traffic police and marshals on site. The authority noted the closure was essential for long-term bridge repairs. With flow restored, conditions are expected to improve gradually, easing pressure on alternatives.
