MINVU presents housing models for El Olivar in Viña del Mar

The Ministry of Housing and Urbanism presented the designs for 160 permanent homes to be built in El Olivar, an area affected by the 2024 megafire in Viña del Mar.

On July 10, regional authorities and seven representatives from different macrozones of the sector met at SERVIU in Valparaíso. The housing models were presented for the first time, with construction scheduled to begin in the coming days.

The plan starts with the first 12 homes out of a total of 160. The units include improvements such as masonry structures on the ground floor, greater fire resistance and better thermal performance, in response to families’ preferences.

Three models were announced: two paired simple homes of 63 and 64 square meters, and one isolated home of 52.6 square meters. All will be delivered finished, financed with 1,480 UF.

MINVU will also set up a special unit to speed up projects, strengthen SERVIU supervision and launch a Comprehensive Communication Plan. Daniela Infante, regional reconstruction officer, said the measure aims to provide clear information and restore trust.
