Netflix has released the first photo of Scooby-Doo from its upcoming live-action series Scooby-Doo: Origins, marking the first time the character will be played by an actual dog rather than CGI.
The series is a modern reimagining of the Mystery Inc. group. It follows Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at camp as they investigate a haunting mystery involving a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder. They team up with the pragmatic Velma and the new kid Freddy to solve the case. The show is currently in production in Atlanta, Ga. McKenna Grace stars as Daphne Blake, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones. Paul Walter Hauser appears in an undisclosed role. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg serve as showrunners. The first season is slated to premiere on Netflix in 2027. The series comes from Berlanti Productions.
