Australian country star Casey Barnes has been chosen to provide the theme song for Nine's broadcast of the 2026 NRL season. His new single, 'Made for This,' will debut on February 27 and feature in matches throughout the season. The track, co-written in Nashville, embodies themes of resilience and determination.
Casey Barnes, an Australian country music artist and Golden Guitar winner, announced his new single 'Made for This' on February 16, 2026. The song is set for official release on Friday, February 27, and has been selected as the theme for Nine's coverage of the entire 2026 NRL season.
The 30-week season begins on Sunday, March 1, with the track playing during all Thursday, Friday, and Sunday matches. It will air across Nine's network, affiliated stations, and streaming service 9Now. A press release describes 'Made for This' as a 'stadium-ready statement,' noting it as 'a defiant anthem about coming back stronger, thriving under pressure, and proving yourself when the world says you can’t.' The song features soaring guitars, pounding drums, and an unstoppable chorus that captures the artist's hunger and determination.
Barnes commented, 'This song is about backing yourself when everything’s on the line. It’s about coming back from adversity, not being afraid of the challenge, and using it as fuel.' He co-wrote the track in Nashville with Andy Skib, Jimmy Thow, Michael Paynter, and Michael DeLorenzis.
In related developments, Barnes recently signed with Community Music, part of Unified Music Group, after amicably ending a six-year partnership with Chugg Music last year. Both parties expressed mutual respect and gratitude for their collaboration, viewing the split as a natural step in his career. Looking ahead, Barnes is scheduled to perform on the main stage at CMC Rocks QLD next month, with additional festival appearances and a national headline tour planned.
