President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed a major education reform commitment, including renovating 300,000 schools and national digitalization. The program covers infrastructure improvements and distribution of interactive devices to remote areas.
President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has outlined a comprehensive education reform plan. Speaking in a dialogue on March 22, 2026, titled “Presiden Prabowo Jawab Kritikan MBG, BOP Terkait Palestina & Nego Tarif Amerika Dengan Donald Trump”, he announced an accelerated school renovation program targeting 300,000 units over the next five years. Last year, 17,000 schools were renovated; this year, 70,000; and next year, the target is 90,000. “I am carrying out physical repairs of schools. Last year we only managed 17,000 schools. This year 70,000 schools. Next year I want to increase to 90,000 schools. In five years I want to complete 300,000 schools,” Prabowo stated. Additionally, over 288,000 interactive flat panels have been distributed to disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas. These devices come preloaded with syllabus software. “In each interactive panel, there is software we have filled, almost all lesson syllabi are there. So after one class, if the teacher wants to repeat, it's there,” he said. The government is also preparing a centralized teaching system via studios with top teachers for schools lacking staff in subjects like mathematics or English. “Later we will have studios, the best teachers will teach in schools without math teachers, without English teachers, they can get lessons. And with Interactive, we can monitor in class,” he explained. This reform aims to boost human capital amid global technological advances. “This is leaps in human capital steps,” Prabowo emphasized, highlighting education's role in national productivity and economic growth.
