The Greater Chennai Corporation suspended seven officials following a raid by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption.
The suspensions include an Executive Engineer, an Assistant Executive Engineer, an Assistant Engineer, and a Junior Assistant in the Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar zone. They are linked to FIR No.06/AC/2026/CC-II dated 6.7.2026. In the Teynampet zone, a sanitary officer and a conservancy supervisor were also suspended after a joint surprise check.
GCC Commissioner G.S. Sameeran stated that the raid occurred a week ago and the report arrived on Friday. He said major charges have been pressed and inquiries will follow due process, potentially leading to dismissal. Warnings were issued to all officials per instructions from the Honourable Chief Minister.
Sameeran directed Zonal Officers and Assistant Engineers to display DVAC contact numbers in all Corporation offices for complaints.
