Small plane flips in emergency landing near San Cosme, crew unharmed

A small plane from a flight school in Corrientes made a forced landing on Wednesday due to a mechanical failure, flipping over on a dirt road near kilometer 1048 of National Route 12. The occupants, an instructor and a student, emerged unharmed. Rescue teams located them without needing medical attention.

The incident took place shortly after 10:15 a.m. near San Cosme in Corrientes. The aircraft, based at the International Airport "Dr. Fernando Piragine Niveyro", was crewed by instructor Joaquín Corradini and student Guido Martín Fontana Ferro, both 25 years old. After the mechanical issue, they attempted a landing on a dirt road, but uneven terrain caused the plane to flip, leaving it upside down with material damage.

Civil Defense, firefighters, and Corrientes Police launched a search operation following the alert. Bruno Lovison, Civil Defense deputy director, confirmed the crew was found around 12:30 p.m. "Fortunately, the crew is in perfect condition and did not need medical attention," Lovison stated.

The plane will remain at the site until Aviation Civil experts complete their examination of the mechanical failure. Lovison told radio Sudamericana: "Once the inspections are finished, logistics for moving it to its hangar will be evaluated, but initially it is not fit to fly again." The event did not disrupt traffic on Route 12, as it occurred in an adjacent field.
