Khila Wood, 29, faces charges of aggravated domestic violence and child neglect after allegedly striking and shooting her ex-boyfriend in front of their young child in Dentsville, South Carolina. The incident occurred Thursday evening around 7 p.m. on Nancy Avenue. The child, under age 3, was unharmed and placed with a grandmother.
Richland County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to the scene in Dentsville, a suburb northeast of Columbia, where they found two pools of blood. A witness told officers, 'she shot him,' according to reports from local NBC affiliate WIS. Wood and the victim, the father of her child, had been arguing when she allegedly hit him in the head with a gun and fought over the weapon before she fired as he approached a vehicle to check on the toddler. The child was present but not physically injured. Wood remains in custody at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on a $125,000 bond, per jail records. She faces charges of domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and neglect by a legal custodian. After the shooting, Wood and the injured man left the area together. He was later dropped off at a hospital for treatment, and she contacted authorities to turn herself in.
