Building on Hollow Knight: Silksong's 7 million sales milestone, Team Cherry has detailed a free Switch 2 Edition for the original Hollow Knight and provided more on the upcoming Sea of Sorrow expansion for Silksong, both set for 2026. PC players can now access beta improvements for enhanced play.
Team Cherry wrapped up 2025 with further updates for its Hollow Knight franchise. Following Silksong's strong sales performance announced earlier this month, the studio revealed a Switch 2 Edition of the original Hollow Knight. This free upgrade for existing Switch owners includes high frame-rate modes, higher resolutions to showcase the art, and new graphical effects. Similar enhancements are coming to other platforms.
For Hollow Knight: Silksong, the previously announced free Sea of Sorrow expansion (2026) will expand the world with nautical areas, bosses, tools, and challenges across and beneath salt-stricken seas.
PC players can immediately try improvements via a public beta on Steam and GOG, featuring expanded controller support, 21:9 and 16:10 resolutions, better map panning, and pausable inventory menus. More refinements are planned for full release next year.
These developments highlight Team Cherry's commitment to evolving the series across platforms.
