The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported three Indonesian peacekeepers killed within 24 hours in southern Lebanon. The first incident occurred on Sunday night (March 29, 2026) when a projectile struck a UNIFIL base near Adchit al-Qusayr, killing Praka Farizal Rhomadhon. One other soldier suffered critical injuries, and two had light wounds, according to Foreign Minister Sugiono.
Hours later, Satgas Yonmek XXIII-S/Unifil sent a convoy to evacuate the body and wounded. The vehicle exploded from an unknown source near Bani Haiyyan, killing Mayor Inf ZA from Kopassus and Sertu I from Kodam IX/Udayana. Two others, Lettu S and Praka D, were seriously injured and airlifted to Beirut.
UNIFIL stated that any deliberate attack on peacekeepers violates international humanitarian law and Security Council Resolution 1701. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for accountability over recent incidents. Indonesia's Foreign Ministry confirmed the casualties and condemned the Israeli attack in southern Lebanon.
DPR Commission I member Oleh Soleh urged a review of TNI deployment to UNIFIL, including possible temporary withdrawal, amid escalating Israel-Hezbollah conflict. Iran's embassy in Jakarta offered condolences and condemned Israeli aggression.
