Three-year-old boy dies after being run over by minibus in northern Neiva

A three-year-old boy identified as Ian Daniel Gómez Dorado died after being struck by a minibus in northern Neiva. The incident happened while the child was playing on the public road and the vehicle reversed, hitting him. Despite medical efforts, the boy arrived at a medical center without vital signs.

The tragic incident occurred around 4:25 p.m. on March 6, 2026, in Comuna Nueve of Neiva, near the José María Carbonell neighborhood, specifically at carrera 9 with calle 87. Ian Daniel Gómez Dorado, aged 3, was playing on the public road when, according to community accounts, he unexpectedly stepped onto the street. At that moment, the driver of minibus internal number 127, license plate TBK171, affiliated with Coomotor company, reversed and struck him.

Witnesses reported that the child was without clothes or shoes, holding a glass, and became trapped under the vehicle in a pool of blood. Neighbors quickly came to his aid and transported him to ESE Carmen Emilia Ospina, CAIMI headquarters. Upon arrival, the boy showed no breathing or pulse, with multiple traumas and bleeding from his nose, mouth, and ears.

Medical staff began advanced resuscitation procedures, including orotracheal intubation, chest compressions, and oxygen supply, for about 30 minutes. However, the child did not respond, and his death was declared due to cardiorespiratory arrest from the sustained traumas.

Neiva's Mobility Secretariat is investigating the responsibilities of those involved, including who was supervising the child at the time, as he was taken to the health center by a neighbor. Fiscalía's criminalistics units collected evidentiary materials at the scene to clarify the circumstances. The body was transferred to the National Institute of Legal Medicine.
