Joshua Russell Morrow was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2024 killings of his fiancée and her mother in Wayne County.
A Wayne County jury convicted Morrow in May on all counts after a trial that included evidence of his prior murder conviction. Prosecutors described the December 2024 stabbings of Britney Brown, 34, and Erma Brown, 57, followed by arson at the Spring Valley Drive home, as a horrific case that devastated the family.
Morrow received two consecutive life terms without parole, plus 20 years for first-degree arson and five years for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The sentence was handed down Wednesday in Cabell County court.
Morrow maintained his innocence at the hearing and said he plans to appeal. Relatives of the victims expressed relief that he will spend the rest of his life in prison but noted the lasting trauma for the couple's young daughter.
Surveillance video showed Morrow leaving the burning home with the 15-month-old child before driving her to a friend's house. Authorities arrested him hours later.
