A 25-year-old woman in Fargo, North Dakota, faces aggravated assault charges after allegedly throwing scalding water on her neighbor at an apartment complex.
Crystal Dean was arrested following the incident at The Arbors apartments on Sunday morning. Police responded at 8:41 a.m. after receiving a report that Dean had thrown a pot of hot water on another woman, causing burns to her neck, shoulders, and back.
The victim told officers that Dean approached her on the third floor while carrying a pot and a bucket. After asking if she would run, Dean allegedly threw the water as the woman reached the bottom of the stairs and then grabbed her shirt.
Dean told police the act was in retaliation for a prior similar incident involving the victim. She claimed the water came from the tap and was not scalding hot. Officers described the victim's burns as severe, and she was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
Dean remains in custody at the Cass County Jail. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 31.
