3 TNI soldiers apologize tearfully in bank branch head kidnapping trial

Three TNI soldiers accused of kidnapping and murdering bank branch head MIP apologized tearfully at the Military Court II-08 in Jakarta. They admitted being motivated by promises of Rp 200 million and economic factors. The hearing took place on Tuesday in Cakung, East Jakarta.

During the defendant examination hearing at Military Court II-08 in Cakung, East Jakarta, on Tuesday, three defendants—Serka MN, Kopda FH, and Serka FY—offered apologies before Chief Judge Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto. Serka MN, the main defendant who gave the orders, broke down crying while apologizing to the family of victim MIP (37). "Izin, for defendant two (Kopda FH) and three (Serka FY), it was only them based on my orders, so they are loyal to me. For them, share the punishment with me," Serka MN said.

The Chief Judge emphasized that the apology was a moral responsibility. "Yes, it probably won't be accepted, but at least there's effort," Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto stated. Kopda FH said, "We apologize to our unit for tarnishing its name. Second, we apologize to the victim's family for my stupidity and mistake." Serka FY also briefly apologized to the victim's family.

The motive emerged during examination by Prosecutor Mayor (Chk) Wasinton Marpaung. Serka MN admitted being promised Rp 200 million, receiving Rp 150 million from Yohannes Joko Pamuntas, with his share Rp 50 million. "We were promised Rp 200 million if the job was completed," Serka MN said. Kopda FH cited senior orders, money, and debt as drivers, while Serka FY admitted it was for extra money.
