'I’ve just been writing songs and playing shows, really growing that and playing a lot here in the BCS area with my buddy Ben Morris and company,' he said. He highlighted his band, the Great American Boxcar Chorus, and his multifaceted role in the music scene. 'I got a lot of irons and a lot of different fires. I play trumpet with a couple of different bands, do that in the studio as well,' Mayse added. He also mentioned a recent songwriting session: 'And yesterday I got together with a couple of friends, and we just spent several hours writing a new song.'

The highlight of the appearance was Mayse's performance of his original song 'Lukewarm Christmas,' which captures the mild winter weather typical of Texas holidays. 'It’s a song about how growing up in Texas, every year it’s warm outside on Christmas Day,' he explained. 'And no matter how cool it gets, and I see that, it may be getting cold next week, but I guarantee you by Christmas time, it’ll be warm outside, and we’ll be in shorts and tank tops.'
