Born and raised in Texas, Mayse is known for his frequent performances in the Brazos Valley and the broader BCS area, which encompasses Bryan, College Station, and Snook.

During the segment, Mayse discussed his ongoing musical pursuits. 'I’ve just been writing songs and playing shows, really growing that and playing a lot here in the BCS area with my buddy Ben Morris and company,' he said. He highlighted his band, the Great American Boxcar Chorus, and his multifaceted role in the music scene. 'I got a lot of irons and a lot of different fires. I play trumpet with a couple of different bands, do that in the studio as well,' Mayse added. He also mentioned a recent songwriting session: 'And yesterday I got together with a couple of friends, and we just spent several hours writing a new song.'

The highlight of the appearance was Mayse's performance of his original song 'Lukewarm Christmas,' which captures the mild winter weather typical of Texas holidays. 'It’s a song about how growing up in Texas, every year it’s warm outside on Christmas Day,' he explained. 'And no matter how cool it gets, and I see that, it may be getting cold next week, but I guarantee you by Christmas time, it’ll be warm outside, and we’ll be in shorts and tank tops.'

Mayse's appearance underscores the vibrant local music scene in the Brazos Valley, where he continues to build his career through live shows and collaborations. The full performance is available via KBTX's video player.
