Bethesda says elder scrolls 6 roadmap unaffected by layoffs

Bethesda has stated that recent Xbox layoffs will not impact the development timeline for The Elder Scrolls 6. The developer responded directly to questions from YouTuber MrMattyPlays amid reports of staff reductions at Bethesda Game Studios.

Bethesda confirmed in responses shared by the YouTuber that the roadmap for The Elder Scrolls 6 remains unchanged despite 3,200 layoffs across Xbox, with half already completed. The studio addressed concerns after reports that the main Bethesda Game Studios team lost 50 staff members, including key personnel.

The developer also noted that its recent multi-game announcement, which covered Fallout projects and other titles, reflects an ongoing shift in communication strategy rather than external pressure. Bethesda said it has been contemplating this approach to provide fans with a clearer overall picture.

Separately, the studio indicated that work on an Oblivion remaster is now focused on the Switch 2 launch, with some optimizations planned for other platforms. The Elder Scrolls 6 still lacks a release date eight years after its initial announcement.
