CNTE representatives stated they will continue their national strike and mobilizations in the capital during the 2026 World Cup without any withdrawal.
During their National Representative Assembly held in the early hours of Tuesday, the CNTE reiterated that the camp in the Historic Center remains and that demonstrations will continue in Mexico City and other states.
Pedro Hernández, general secretary of Section 9, stated the movement is not defeated and does not contemplate withdrawal. Teachers demanded the repeal of the 2007 ISSSTE Law and the Peña Nieto education reform.
President Claudia Sheinbaum noted on Monday that the presence of protesters has decreased and no meeting with Gobernación is planned, although dialogue remains open through state tripartite tables.
