Gibran asks TNI-Polri to secure Yahukimo for Prabowo's priority programs

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has asked TNI and Polri to collaborate in securing Yahukimo Regency, Highland Papua, to ensure President Prabowo Subianto's priority programs run smoothly. The visit proceeded despite a previous postponement in January 2026 due to security threats.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited Yahukimo Regency on April 22, 2026. During a dialogue with TNI soldiers' families at Koramil 1715/06 Dekai, he urged TNI and Polri to synergize in securing the conflict-prone area due to armed criminal groups (KKB).

"I ask the TNI and Polri, thank you for your hard work, I want the situation to be truly safe, no interests at all. I just want to implement all priority programs from Mr. President so that the locals will ultimately benefit," Gibran said.

He stressed the visit carried no personal interests but aimed to roll out programs such as Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), Free Health Checks (CKG), people's housing, and Red White Village Cooperatives. "If Yahukimo and surroundings are secured, we can automatically bring Mr. President's programs here: MBG, CKG, people's housing, cooperatives," he added.

Gibran said he is not deterred from visiting Yahukimo despite canceling a January 2026 plan due to intelligence on movements by irresponsible groups after a Wamena visit. This three-day Papua tour, covering Nabire, Mimika, Sorong, and Raja Ampat, made Yahukimo the most challenging.

Over three hours in Yahukimo, Gibran inspected MBG at Yahukimo Christian School, health facilities at Dekai Hospital, and dialogued with Army Wives Association (Persit). He appreciated TNI-Polri's security ensuring the visit ran smoothly.
