The taxi passenger, an 84-year-old woman surnamed Man, was trapped inside the vehicle and later rescued. The taxi driver, a 56-year-old man surnamed Lam, and the passenger both suffered multiple injuries and were rushed to North District Hospital in an unconscious state. They were pronounced dead in the afternoon.

He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for questioning. The case is being handled by the special investigation team under the traffic division of the New Territories North regional headquarters.
