At a follow-up press conference the next day, commission member retired Police General Ahmad Dofiri explained that prospective Kapolri candidates should ideally have 25 years of service, higher education such as Sespimti and Lemhannas, and at least 11 years of experience as senior officers.
The recommended career path includes initial postings as one-star generals in operational roles, followed by deputy regional police chief positions, progressing gradually to two-star and three-star ranks before serving as Kapolri for two to three years.
Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Ahmad Sahroni backed plans to revise the Police Law as a government initiative and proposed limiting Polri members' tenure in civil positions to a maximum of three years.
