Mesa 25.2.6 bugfix release enhances GPU drivers

The Mesa team has issued version 25.2.6, a key bugfix update in the 25.2 series aimed at improving driver stability and compatibility. Announced on October 29, 2025, by Eric Engestrom, the release addresses issues across various open-source graphics backends. The next update is slated for November 12.

Mesa 25.2.6 focuses on refining driver stability, shader handling, and Vulkan compatibility for multiple hardware backends. This routine update ensures better performance and reliability in open-source graphics support.

Key contributions include Alyssa Rosenzweig's D3D-compatible texturing improvements for Proton through the anv driver, enhancing compatibility for Windows games on Linux. Benjamin Cheng provided fixes for H.265 video encoding in the radv/video component, improving video handling on AMD hardware.

Connor Abbott advanced the tu driver with enhancements for GMEM paths, subpass attachments, and synchronization logic, benefiting Qualcomm GPUs. Faith Ekstrand introduced Vulkan and PanVK optimizations, such as improved pipeline UUIDs and shader deserialization stability, which aid in better API interactions.

On the Intel front, Lionel Landwerlin resolved issues in shader operations and Vulkan render passes, boosting correctness and performance. For AMD, Marek Olšák fixed Radeon tessellation on older GFX6–7 hardware and enhanced DXTC blits, while Timur Kristóf addressed GPU hang bugs impacting games like Dota 2 and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The Zink driver, overseen by Mike Blumenkrantz, received updates for swapchain management and rendering behavior, streamlining OpenGL over Vulkan operations. Further refinements appear in Panfrost, ACO, NIR, R600, and Vulkan WSI components, underscoring Mesa's extensive support for diverse hardware and APIs.

Full release notes and SHA checksums are available in the updated documentation. Users can download Mesa 25.2.6 from the official archive at mesa.freedesktop.org.
