New York Man Charged With Threatening President Trump

A 43-year-old Oswego man faces federal charges after allegedly posting numerous threats against President Donald Trump and his family on social media.

Joshua Alexander was arrested on June 6 near his home in Oswego, New York, after U.S. Secret Service agents interviewed him about posts on X.

Federal prosecutors say Alexander admitted sending over 100 emails to the White House and making statements including vows to rent a car, hunt down, rape and murder the president. He also allegedly wrote about cutting off the president's head.

Alexander is charged with making a terroristic threat in the Northern District of New York. His public defender has argued the online posts do not meet the legal threshold for the charge and plans to seek dismissal.

Oswego police said the threats created a reasonable fear for the president's life and prompted a Secret Service response.
