Oromia administrator calls for public participation in Green Legacy

Oromia regional administrator Shimelis Abdisa has called on the region's residents to actively participate in this year's Green Legacy program.

Shimelis Abdisa stated that over 28 billion seedlings have been planted in the region over the past seven years, with an 85 percent survival rate. This has increased forest cover from 17 percent to 29 percent.

For this year's program, the region plans to plant more than five billion seedlings across one million hectares. The program is scheduled to begin tomorrow, and Abdisa urged residents to participate actively.

Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh described the Green Legacy as Ethiopia's bright national color.
