Police stage reconstruction of Taufik Hidayat assault on YTR at three crime scenes

West Java Regional Police held a reconstruction of the kidnapping and assault case against YTR by Taufik Hidayat on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

The reconstruction reenacted 21 scenes centered on three main crime scenes and was performed directly by suspect Taufik Hidayat at the West Java Police headquarters in Bandung. Director of the PPA and PPO Reserse Directorate of West Java Police Kombes Pol Rumi Untari said the three crime scenes were selected because they were the central locations of the assault and kidnapping.

The suspect admitted to all his actions during the reconstruction. The assault was carried out using bare hands, a helmet, an iron table leg, and a golok. Rumi explained that the helmet used was broken with blood stains and has been sent to Pusdokkes Jakarta for examination.

A new finding from the reconstruction at crime scene 6 was the portable table iron leg discarded by the perpetrator and used to assault the victim resulting in serious injuries. The reconstruction was centralized at police headquarters due to security and community comfort considerations across the six different crime scenes, including boarding houses that were still occupied.
