Taylor Fritz defeats Patrick Kypson to reach Wimbledon third round

No. 6 seed Taylor Fritz beat fellow American Patrick Kypson 6-2, 6-2, 7-5 in an all-American second-round match at Wimbledon to advance to the third round.

Fritz dominated the opening two sets with strong serving and baseline play. He fired 19 aces overall, won 70 percent of first-serve points and committed only 22 unforced errors.

The third set proved more competitive after Kypson broke early. Fritz responded immediately with a break of his own and held firm in the later stages to close out the match on his fourth match point.

In his post-match press conference Fritz noted windy conditions at the start and said he settled well after an initial period of nerves. He added that he was happy to avoid a fourth set after missing several break opportunities.
