The longlist for the 2026 Booker Prize was announced on July 28. It includes 13 works of fiction written in English and published in the United Kingdom or Ireland.
The Booker Prize recognizes outstanding fiction and has been awarded since 1969. This year's panel is chaired by poet Mary Beard and includes writer Raymond Antrobus, musician Jarvis Cocker, journalist Rebecca Liu, and writer Patricia Lockwood.
The selected titles come from seven countries across three continents. They include two previous winners, one prior shortlisted author, 10 newcomers to the prize, and three debut novelists.
The shortlist will be revealed on September 22. The winner, to be named on November 9, receives £50,000 while each shortlisted author gets £2,500.
The longlist titles are Shadow of the Object by Chloe Aridjis, Switzy by Emma Cline, Helen of Nowhere by Makenna Goodman, The End of Everything by M. John Harrison, The Disappearers by Marlon James, Black Bag by Luke Kennard, The Renovation by Kenan Orhan, May We Feed the King by Rebecca Perry, The Palm House by Gwendoline Riley, The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout, John of John by Douglas Stuart, All Them Dogs by Djamel White, and The Vivisectors by Missouri Williams.
