The series, which debuted in 2021, centers on dedicated teachers and a principal at an underfunded Philadelphia public school. Quinta Brunson created the show, stars as idealistic teacher Janine Teagues, and serves as an executive producer alongside Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, Randall Einhorn, and Brian Rubenstein. The cast includes Tyler James Williams as Gregory, Janine’s co-worker and love interest; Sheryl Lee Ralph as veteran teacher Barbara; Janelle James as principal Ava; Lisa Ann Walter; Chris Perfetti; and William Stanford Davis.
