ABC orders series for The Rookie: North spin-off starring Jay Ellis

ABC has given a series order to The Rookie: North, a spin-off of the long-running police procedural starring Jay Ellis. The show follows Ellis as Alex Holland, a man who joins the Pierce County Police Department as its oldest rookie after a home invasion. It is set to consist of 10 episodes and premiere in midseason.

The series order comes after a pilot was commissioned in November 2025. Alexi Hawley, creator of the original The Rookie, wrote and directed the pilot episode and serves as an executive producer alongside star Nathan Fillion. Fillion is also set to appear in the pilot as his character John Nolan, opening the door for future crossovers between the two shows.
